Zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination, in any form, from anyone. That includes our own staff. If safety is ever in question, we act.
What safeguarding means to us
Safeguarding isn't paperwork. It's a culture where the people we support are heard and believed, where workers know exactly what to do when something isn't right, and where speaking up is safe for everyone. It's also a legal duty we carry as a registered NDIS provider under the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
How we keep supports safe
- Worker screening. Every worker in a risk-assessed role holds a current NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance before they work with you.
- Safe recruitment. Reference checks for every hire, and the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Quality, Safety and You) as a condition of joining us.
- Training and supervision. Our workers are trained to recognise and respond to signs of abuse and neglect, and they're supported by coordinators, not left on their own.
- Incident management. Every incident is recorded, responded to and reviewed. Reportable incidents are notified to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission within the required timeframes.
- Complaints welcome. Concerns are how we get better. You will never be treated unfairly for raising one. See our complaints procedure.
- Safety planned with you, not for you. We talk through risks together and respect your right to make your own choices.
Safety without shrinking your life
Being safe should never mean living small. We won't wrap you in cotton wool or make decisions over your head in the name of safety. Dignity of risk, your right to try things, is part of good support, and we hold both at once: real safeguards, full lives.
The NDIS Code of Conduct
The Code binds every one of our workers to deliver safe, competent supports with honesty and respect, and to take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, neglect, abuse and sexual misconduct.
