A conflict of interest is when a provider's own interests could pull against what's best for you. It happens in every industry. What matters is being upfront about it, and never letting it steer your supports. Here's how we handle it.
Our commitments
- Recommendations are about you. Anything we suggest is based only on your needs, goals and preferences, never on what suits us.
- No referral payments. We don't pay, and don't accept, commissions, kickbacks or incentives for steering participants toward or away from any provider.
- Interests are declared. Staff must declare any personal or financial interest that could conflict with their role. Declared conflicts are recorded and managed, and that person steps back from related decisions.
- No money or significant gifts. Our workers don't accept money or valuable gifts from the people we support. Small thank-yous are handled openly with a coordinator.
- Clear boundaries. Where a worker has an existing personal relationship with someone we support, we put clear arrangements around it.
- Everything in the open. Your service agreement is plain English, with every cost visible before you sign.
Your choice, always
You can use any mix of providers you like, and changing or leaving us will never change how we treat you. If we're not the right fit for something you need, we'll say so honestly and help you look at other options, without pushing you anywhere in particular. That's what choice and control means in practice, and it's also what the NDIS Code of Conduct requires of us: integrity, honesty and transparency.
Something doesn't feel right?
If you ever feel pushed toward a choice, or think an interest hasn't been declared, please tell us: feedback@rainbowconnections.com.au or 02 4313 1690. Our complaints procedure explains what happens next, and you can contact the NDIS Commission on 1800 035 544 at any time.
